Accounts Assistant
ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT
Stephen James BMW Group is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our busy accounts team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to expand your knowledge and experience in an accounting environment while developing a career with one of the world's most admired brands in the automotive industry.
YOUR ROLE.
As an Accounts Assistant you will be an integral part of our accounts team. You will handle regular accounting tasks independently and participate in various ongoing and upcoming projects.
The main duties of the role include.
- Assist with day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable.
- Manage vehicle debtors, sales ledger, purchase ledger, and reconciliations.
- Utilise advanced Excel functions (VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables) to manage and analyse data.
- Maintain and update Drive.
- Oversee and complete the month-end nominal ledger and reconciliations.
- Handle journal processing and maintain vehicle stock books.
- Prepare detailed and accurate financial reports regularly for the finance team and financial controller.
- Support the finance department and senior accounting staff with tasks such as preparing budgets, records, and statements.
YOUR PROFILE.
- Ideally you will be studying for an accountancy qualification or will be either part or fully AAT qualified (or have another accounting qualification).
- Motor-trade experience would be preferable, as would a good working knowledge of Kerridge/Drive.
- Proficiency in Excel experience, including advanced functions (VLOOKUP’s, Pivot tables)
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

SALARY AND HOURS.
- £30,000 per annum
- Working hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm

The Stephen James Group was established in 1973 as a Used Car Dealer and in 1985 became an authorised BMW and MINI automotive retailer principally based in Enfield, North London. In 2006 the group grew with the acquisition of 3 dealerships in and around Kent. Now we operate five BMW and three MINI Centres located in Enfield, Woolwich, Bromley, Sidcup and a city retail outlet in Blackheath. In 2023, we became part of the Hedin Mobility Group.
